unfortuantely splatter screens usually arent stainless steel and will quickly rust.

also that coffee screen- the holes are much too small and you would probably have problems drawing off (it would be painfully slow), and especially if you were recirculating (it wouldnt work).

I used a perforated pizza pan. ya know the ones with the little holes in them? Works Great! i cut them into smaller rounds to fit the bottom of the keg or other mash tun. You can buy them at any cooking supply store or grocery store for that matter. Even Wall-mart! 15$

One of these! http://www.google.com/products/catalog?q=pizza+pan&hl=en&safe=off&client=firefox-a&hs=n51&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:eek:fficial&prmd=imvns&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.,cf.osb&biw=1600&bih=770&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=shop&cid=903561939301318744&sa=X&ei=ual_T8Qw5qqJAq-FgbAD&ved=0CH8Q8wIwAA

Great idea... I guess the aluminum doesn't hurt anything... would be nice to find one made in SS. How large are the holes in that pan? I bet you could find one in 12" and have a factory edge all the way around... I may have to swing by the restaurant supply store some time this week.

I do get some grains through, but when i take a few pitchers of wort through the bottom and replace into the top for a good filter bed, i get a nice and clean wort. Im thinking of using a muslin bag as well to help with that.

Doesn't look much different than the splatter screen method. Look here: http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/product.asp?SKU=13588902

I did mine with that screen. It is solid stainless steel only.
