Not sure if this is the right place for this...I chose the extract sub-forum because, well...these are extracts, essentially.

I was wondering if anyone has thought about or tried making anything using liquor essences, like an Irish Cream essence. I know it wouldn't be the real thing...wouldn't even have nearly the same high ABV. I ran across essences like this on Amazon, though, and it got me thinking about it.

Would it be similar to brewing a hard root beer? And, say someone brewed a hard "Irish Cream" drink...could you then add heavy cream or milk or something similar to make a lower ABV irish cream? Or would it just turn into something nasty?

Thoughts?
 
I'm not sure how adding cream would work, but you could try using lactose for the creamy mouthfeel and slight sweetness.
