With my first brew being bottled in 4 days. It's time to plan for another batch.
Let me know if this recipe looks ok and what you would change with the stuff I have listed for my next batch.. EDIT.... Batch Is ONE GALLON.

Recipe I have planned goes like ... :drunk:

2lbs of Briess Golden Light DME

2 oz of Carapils

.25 oz of Magnum Hops @ 13.5% AA (25 minutes)

.25 oz of Galaxy Hops @ 14% AA (15 minutes)

.25 oz of Galaxy Hops @ 14% AA (10 minutes)

.50 oz of Galaxy Hops @ 14% AA (O/Flameout)

Yeast is Fermentis S-04 and will be fermenting @ 66-68 degrees!

Please let me know if this is ok or what I can improve :mug:

I'm shooting for a Pale Ale or IPA, doesn't matter.
Just wanted to make sure I don't end up going to heavy on the DME or other items.

Well I punched those ingredients in a one gallon batch and this is what It looks like from here.

So pretty good match for IIPA your stats are the blue under the ranges for the style.

Sent from somewhere to someone

Sweet thank you for that ^^
Just what I was hoping to hear looks like a IIPA is gonna be my next batch. Now 4 days can't come sooner. Hopefully the magnum hops play a clean bittering role and let the galaxy fruity notes take over.
Looks like this is a green light!

If anyone has any input on what to improve or change please feel free to post and let me know!!

Quick question regarding the carapils grain. What would be the most effective way to steep this?

I have been told 2 ways,
1. Hold temp at 160-170 and steep for 10-20 minutes.
2. Throw em in at beginning of flame and remove when reaching 165.

Which is my best bet for better ..what's the word I'm looking for..
Use of these grains in my batch!

The Briess site recommends steeping in a grain bag at 160 for 30 minutes, then sparging with hot water.

Quick question!
Brewed this up and it went flawless until I strained it into the jug.
I forgot to aerate the wort, I pitched the yeast, then I think this is we're I messed up I went ahead and gave it a few shakes and swirls with the yeast inside, now 4 hours after brewing I see krauzen starting form and bubbles shooting up.
Did I mess my yeast up by shacking and swirling after the went in ?

No, that's fine! Don't worry- it sounds exactly right at this point.

Sweet, thanks yooper!
I went into this brewday with no checklist and man I was running around trying to get everything good.
I sanatized everything to the point where it might be over sani'd lol.
We'll live and learn! Next brew its a checklist and being on top off the game! Wooooo!
P.s. those galaxy hops smell too good!

Fermentation took off like crazy 3-4 hours after brewing, got home from work to find that my room smelled good. Blow off tube was rocking and jar was bubbling like crazy. Fast forward to today, krausen dropped so I switched the blow off for a airlock and now we wait!

I'll up date this further if I have any questions, but for now all is well and I'm hoping this brew comes out well.
First one that's not a kit, second brew overall.

Recipe was switched a bit and if al goes well i'll be posting it.
