Do the lighter beers take longer to come around due to no barley or flavorings..I'm doing another blonde ale.
Mac's Hopped up Blonde!

3 lbs Extra Light DME
1/2 lb Carapils

1/2 oz Centennial @ 15'
1/2 oz Columbus @ 15'
1 oz Cascade @ Flameout

Ferment with a pack of US-05

Last one I did after six weeks in the bottle still sweet..all my stouts IPAs are great.
 
In general, lighter means faster fermentation and maturity. Biermuncher, for example, tends to brew on the light side of the style because of self-proclaimed impatience. When my students get down to five weeks until turn-in for their home brewing project, I tell them to brew Biermuncher's Centennial Blonde.

So you're looking for an OG of 1024? Even for a blond ale, that's pretty light.
 
I have found that most extracts are made at a higher mash temp than I care for. This will leave some residual sweetness behind once fermentation is complete. You may not notice the sweetness as much in a heavy beer, but a light blonde ale shows all it's "flaws" due the the very light grain bill. Ie, sweetened, yeast, etc.

You might not need the carapils, depends on the extract. You can make a perfectly fine blonde with Briess golden light and hops at 60/30/0.

I suppose extra light would work just as well but lighter?
