Creating a starter and my vial of wlp004 threatened to explode when I opened it. Should I be concerned? Some got on my hands, but they were quite clean as I had just had them immersed in sanitation solution.

Exploding yeast?!

Sure you didn't get some of that al-Qeada strain.

al-la-la la al al la la BOOM!!!!!

The vial of WLP001 I made a starter with yesterday exploded all over the place when I opened it. First time using White Labs for me. Should they maybe be opened before you bring them to room temp?

The yeast will not hurt your hands:)

Did you put the spilled yeast in the starter?

That's a relief! :cross:

No, seriously I was concerned because I was afraid that the yeast became contaminated when it made contact with the side of the vial and my hands. As of this morning, it's certainly reacting well in my starter, I just hope I'm not getting any bacterial infections.
