SO I was infourmed by SWMBO that I was going to be a DADDY! :rockin:
I will be a first time Daddy and i dont think I have ever been so excited in my life. We havent told every one family wise yet but I am busting at the seams to tell folks. So I figured I could get away with telling the HBT crowd.

:mug: :ban: :rockin:
Eric.

Congrats! Life as you know it is OVER!!! Get all of the sleep, and brewing, in now that you can.

And pray to whatever deity that you believe in that you don't have a girl!!!!!

Congrats.

Like Kjung said, life as you know it is over. But its going to be replaced with an even better phase.

And yes, get all the brewing in that you can. A year from now, you'll wish that you had.

Congratulations! We had our first boy on New Year's Day. Take my advice and look around the house and fix EVERYTHING you see that needs addressing now. Your life is on hold until the baby comes. Then it's over.

Also, no big projects the last two months of the pregnancy. The last thing your SWMBO needs is for you to end up in the hospital and be unable to assist her as she rounds out (hehe) her pregnancy.

Congratulations!

How much can you brew, bottle, and drink in 9 months?

Just kidding. I'm not the standard pessimist, I'm assuming you will still be able to drink and brew ;)

Is your wife a beer drinker too? If so, I may become a pessimist in your case. She will have to watch you drink beer for the next nine months and will either guilt you into stopping, or you will feel guilty on your own.

I tend not to have an issue with guilt. SWMBO drinks but has just requested that I save a bottle or 2 out of each of my batches she cant have. I figure Ill do 2 outa each so that when she can drink again we can sample em togeather. Plus it will be an exsperiament in ageing some of my beers. :mug:

Awsome! Congratz! Strap in pal...it's a hell of a ride. But it's great. So far anyway. Talk to me in 14 years when I am cleaning the guns in the dinning room when the date rolls in, and i will tell you if it's still great.

Congrats! As the brewer in my house I have worries about our pipeline when I pass the OMG stick to my husband...

I hear you about keeping your mouth shut on the news... there are people at work that konw I am planning to try in the near future, yet none of our family knows... then again the work people are more likely to see me running for the porceline phone than my family...

Cool man! You don't have to give up your life just because you have kids. Sure, it may slow down for a while, but they'll get older and you can have them participate in your hobbies as well! Well, maybe not home brewing. :D I have a 12 year old boy and a 3 and a half year old girl. They're both very different. Nothing wrong with having a girl either! My little girl is definitely a daddy's girl.

I hear ya CHEIF, but if I have a girl I will end up in jail come dateing age. Ill be the daddy in the family room cleaning guns when she brings her first boyfriend home. Also if he reminds me a bit of myself hes gone! LOL!!:D

Congrats!! :mug:

Yeah, I went on a bit of a brewing hiatus when we started having kids.
But don't worry, you'll get back at it like me! I do wish I would have brewed a bunch more and made it last for a while...

Congrats! And even though life as you know it is over, you won't ever wanna go back once he/she arrives. Btw, get ready for time to start flying!

Eric.

Congrats it will change your world. I have a 9 month old girl and it's a riot. But word of warning, don't tell anyone you know (in the real world) about it until 12 weeks. Miscarriages are quite common in first-time pregnancies (people don't really talk about it so you don't realize it) and it is bad enough for it to happen, let alone to tell everyone about it and have people ask you about the pregnancy months later.

Just a word of warning. We told people at 9 weeks first time around and it was painful to have to revisit it over and over, especially for my wife. Friends of ours also just lost twins at 10 weeks when she developed a drug resistant kidney infection and ran a 103 fever for a week straight.

Not being a debbie downer here, it's a time to be excited and a time to look forward to your new life, but heed the warnings of those who have gone before you and keep you trap shut until 12 weeks! :mug:

Man ooh man ! We had a drs visit on monday and they did the first ultra sound. I got to see my little bean! I call it my bean becuase I dont know if its a boy or a girl and at this state it sorta resembles a bean. BUT man alive when I got to see and hear the little heart beat I was floored! I even got misty eyed momentarily. I blame that crap on being around a bunch of preggo chicks all day in the witing room. damn hormones are killer. my SWIP goes from 0 to psycho in less than 5 and then from happy to balling in less than 2 seconds. Glad I have beer and brewing.:)

Eric.

Jesus Christ man...with that avatar, you aren't allowed to say "preggo".

Congratulations! My wife is due with our first on July 4th. I know exactly the pride and excitement you are feeling. We called our boy (because we know he's a boy now) the "bean" too. Just wait until the later ultrasounds when it actually looks like a full on baby...and you see his monster cock...talk about PRIDE!

Congrats Doc! Yeah I bet the excitement is something when it starts resembleing a baby. And man I am gonna go bezerk when i find out its a boy. A girl is ok too, but a boy first would be better. Then we can have girls, becuase I will have an "older brother" to help me watch em.;)

That's how I looked at it too, but man alive, having a little daddy's girl is pretty amazing and fun.

Also, the detailed 20w ultrasound is amazing if you have one of those 3D jobbers... Wow. And if you want to see how she is feeling, read through the "pregnancy calendar blog" at http://alphamom.com. Pretty funny read and it was pretty spot-on for SWWP.

Randar, SWIP says thank you for the link. Not many of the books actually get into the feelings and weird things like itchyness ect. Made her feel a bit normal, for wich I thank you!

:mug: Sláinte!

No problem. SWWP and I used to read it together every week and we would just laugh at how accurate it seemed to be. There is so much info out there it can be overwhelming. Just remember that every pregnancy is different and all the advice you get from people you know/meet should be taken with about 300 grains of salt. It's an exciting time so don't read too much and get all anxious and robotic about the process. Just try to enjoy the experience as much as possible (which can be hard when your newly pregnant wife is farting and/or puking all over the place). :drunk:
