Article on NHL.com today proclaiming the Leafs are for real.
Not sure about that yet, but beating Boston last night was soooo satisfying.Puts them one point out of third in the Atlantic, and three up on the Isles for the wildcard.
I would love it if they could pass the Bruins.
My oh my.

I gotta be honest: I didn't see the Blackhawks putting together much of a late season rush. I still don't see them winning the cup this year but they should do reasonably well in the playoffs.
I don't think "reasonably well" cuts it in the playoffs. You either make it to the finals or bust.
Go Habs Go!
We're by them. Now let's see if they can stay there.Probably could. Marchand is the only one really playing well and he's two steps from making a cheap hit and getting suspended again.
Reasonably well as opposed to swept in the first round. I know people like to think of the playoffs as purely all or nothing but long term you need to look at improvement rates and how that will affect the next season.
I'll have to look that up. The article I read says that icing rules revert to normal when the penalty is over, not when they're back to five skaters.I watched that debacle. The Columbus goalie wasn't the issue. The rules say there is no icing when a team is short handed. The Leafs were just f'd. I'm not a fan of Babcock, I was hoping for a BJs goal.

Melnyk doesn't name Crosby but "we all know who he is. The guy is a whiner beyond belief." Says no matter who it is he should be suspended
[ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MJ5-T40b4O0"][/ame]I believe this is true unless they changed the rules. I remember a few times where teams iced the puck just after the whistle blew and they got called for it. Of course it may be that their player was in the box and had come out. I don't recall every seeing a case where the penalty ended and a player didn't come out of the box immediately. I would like to have seen that game.
There's more than a good chance that if the NHL says no, they're still going to need to call up a bunch of AHL scrubs to fill the holes. I'm betting Ovechkin isn't the only one willing to say "Fsck you Gary, I'm going anyways."Bettman says that, as of now, NHL players will not go the the Olympics next year.
That is good news. A three week break in the middle of the season is ridiculous.
What the ell do I do in six games when the Wings are all done for the year?? #cantrememberlifewithoutplayoffhockey
You can laugh, but this is the first time I've experienced some optimism regarding the team since... oh... about 5:00 left in the third in game 7 vs. Boston. The Leafs though...hahaha. Go Habs Go! For real this time.
