lmao...and this, my friends, is why socialized governments are a failure.

In Boston they had full riot gear...not just masks and shields, along with a full pack of 20 or so muzzled canines.

One thing that perplexes me about pictures of the Vancouver riots...where are all the females? Looks like a huge sausagefest...no wonder they're all angry. The Boston "riots" looked more like Mardi Gras than anything. lol

Yeah... take it you didn't see much of Toronto during the G20

What the hell does socialism have to do with rioting idiots in Vancouver? Are the police not publically funded in your state?

I don't know if anyone here watches South Park, but this is probably explained by the "T.M.I" episode a few weeks ago. It's always just a tiny (pun intended) minority of jackasses doing this stuff anyways.

Actually, 2001-2011 would be 11 years. "The decade" would run from 2001-2010.

Not necessairly. It depends what day you're going by. If it was last night, it'd be June 16th, 2001 to June 15th, 2011. If you wanted to be really picky, you could factor in the time too, but at that point it doesn't make a huge difference.

Oh cool, now we're arguing about non-important stuff. I guess that signals the off-season more than anything else.

Bruins got lucky. Discuss.

There is a certain amount of luck involved in winning imo. But 29 teams where unlucky. Discuss. They won it fair and square I am not going to whine and complain. The Pens quit when they found out Crosby wasn't coming back for sure. Boohoo. Next year tho...

It was nice to see Luongo roll over 23 times. Twenty-freakin'-three. That's going above and beyond, right there. Mighty magnanimous of him.

A sieve has fewer holes.

There is NO luck in a 7 game series, I had no dog in that fight, but here's what I learned from the series. Luongo is an average at best playoff goalie, which isn't the end of the world, see Osgood(too bad you don't have a better defense). The regular season is a moot point, Sedins. I wouldn't trade Franzen for both of those nancy's. Just goes to show you how damn tough it is to win a cup.

And just how sad I am that the Wing's run is coming to an abrupt end.:(

And most importantly by far, if your not supremely talented on both sides, the better goalie always wins, end of story. And Thomas was beyond epic, 8 goals in seven games? By those numbers, it should have been a sweep.

There's always an element of luck in any sport, even if somewhat minimized by a Bo7 series, but if you looked at the post I was responding to, I wasn't being serious. The Bruins more than deserved to win.

Wings' run coming to an end? How so? Howard was amazing in the playoffs, and yes, if the defense had helped more, or if our offense had landed a few more goals, we could be talking about Detroit in the finals this season.

Yes, we are going to lose a couple of players. Yes, the defense is still an unknown. But I won't be freaking out until Lidstrom retires. (hopefully not until next year...)

We got a bunch of young players, but hopefully we still have enough veterans to continue the streak and continue reaching for the cup for a few years. I'm liking Helm, and Eaves and Miller. The Eurotwins can still cause concern for others, and if we get lucky on a backup goalie, I think Howard can perform as well as anybody in the league.

The best part is, who knows what will happen?

I got that. Just throwing my 2 cents in. I dunno, i've watched a lot of hockey, luck is involved, but I wouldn't depend on it. Vancouver had everything they could have asked for, a better team (on paper), and home ice. Sometimes you just lose, sometimes you get beat.

Look on the bright side , you still have Labatts Blue!

When the devils lost Scott Stevens to retirement they remained in the top half of the eastern conferrence for years but they had issues in the playoffs. He was the back bone of our three championships. Lidstrom is a better player, especially at his advance age, compared to stevens and I just feel his retirement will have similar effects. That being said who the hell really knows.

I concur. I think when Lidstrom retires, there will be a void. Our defense hasn't been as good as it has been before, and when he retires, it won't be better.

When he retires, we can only hope that they younger players will feel free to emulate him even more, to fill that void so to speak.

And other teams in the league are all going to be trying to make their personnel fit each other. There will be plenty of change for a large number of teams.

Can't wait to see how this all shakes out for Vancouver. They had an awesome run in the regular season, and fell apart in the finals. They had the talent to win it, but didn't.

Some say the Canucks burnt themselves out chasing the President's Trophy. Don't know how much I buy that, but the majority of the time, the #1 regular season team doesn't win (and the benefit of a game 7 finals game at home is obviously of only moderate worth), so who knows...

It seems to happen in hockey much less than in other sports (unless your name is Detroit), but hopefully Vancouver can learn from all this crap and make a strong run next year. Certainly can't count on my hometown Leafs :)

And yet they couldn't dispose of the Sharks, a YOUNGER mirror image of themselves.

Their defensive core is done, Rafalski gone, Lidstrom all but done. I love the youngsters, but their still the oldest team in the NHL. Don't get me wrong, we still make the playoffs, but you just don't win without a monster defense or a stellar goalie, of which we have none.

It wasn't about burning themselves out, they weren't tough enough to win..

Like I said, I don't really buy it, but toughness is being overemphasized right now, because it was the key for Boston in these playoffs. Just like when it was Tampa, speed had all the emphasis. Not saying you don't need to be tough - you really do in the playoffs - but you need to be a lot of things, and if you excel at other things, you don't necessarily need to be "Bruins tough".

Well in this series, toughness one. The Canucks are more skilled team than the Bruins, but because the B's basically punched them in the mouth, they couldn't win. Looking back, The B's should've won it in 5 or 6. Those three games in Vancouver could've gone either way.

Lol...it was a joke. The implication was that their public safety departments are underfunded.

Sorry, my mistake, I didn't realize it was a joke.

See, up here in Canada, our jokes generally have an element of humour to them. ;) j/k (see? that was funny!)

Ahh, so sarcasm is your flavor. ;)
