Home ice advantage is not some intangible thing in hockey... home team gets the benefit of last change, which can be huge.

It's different when you don't actually have a pro-team in your state or city. My favorite team is the Blackhawks, but I'm a hockey fan so I basically like seeing a good game. My nephew played hockey and is a hockey fan, but loves the Lightning for some reason. So he hates Boston for knocking them out. There's time. I can work with him.
