21 qt enamelware or 16 qt stainless. both same price. which do I get. I'm at store now. someone help

Well, enamelware can chip and rust so that's a disadvantage. But, bigger is better.

I guess what I'm saying is what size boil are you planning? I'd get a big enough pot that could handle that, whether it's stainless, aluminum or enamel.

Yeah, if you're doing 5 gallon batches, and your boil is 3 gallons or more, you'll be unhappy with less than 20 quarts.

If you only do 2.5 gallon boils, any pot over 16 quarts is fine.

If you want to boil 5 gallons (full boil) you need 30 quarts (or more) if your stove can handle it. Otherwise, a turkey fryer is the best best.

get the enamel one, cause you will be buying a bigger one before you chip that one.
True, it's very likely that you'll wind up wanting a bigger pot before long - but if you get another and retire this one from brewing, would you rather have a cheap enamel pot lying around the house or a decent stainless one?

I'm happy with the 21qt $14.99 enamel one from Target so far, but I've only done one batch in it:D

I figure I'll upgrade to a burner and huge SS pot after the holidays, but this cheap pot should fine until then.

You'll be fine with it. I think mine said not to use on glass cooktops. I used it on mine anyways, but not full to the rim. 2.5 gal boil isn't too much weight for the cooktop.
