Electrical Connection at Element Enclosure

The solder on might be a PITA in your element enclosure, but I wouldn't worry about using a fitting like that in my system.

Just make sure you get the hot side from the controller hooked to the plug side that doesn't have the exposed pins.

I quit boiling over when I went electric. As much as my connections might be waterproof and industrial compatible, I generally don't splash a bunch of wort all over everything during brew day.

The connector specs are electrically adequate for the current/voltage of your element.
Getting the connections soldered on properly may be the biggest challenge.

Soldering should not be an issue. Use a soldering gun. Don't use a soldering pencil.

I should have qualified my statement. Soldering is not and issue for those who have experience soldering.

However, some solder connections can be challenging due to the style of connection or the confined working area around the connection.

In any case, soldering a power lead that carries significant current requires a good low resistance connection. Poorly made solder connections tend to overheat and fail.

As Tobor 8thMan correctly points out, you need the right equipment to properly solder heavy conductors/terminals.

I pulled the trigger on this connection and installed it. So far pretty happy with it. Figured I'd post a follow up and post a few pics for future reference.

What do you guys think of adding one of these to my element enclosure to make the cord removable?

My element is a 1500watt 120v.

Think it is an adequate connector for the load?
Think it would be protected enough from small spillage?

I bought that to do the same thing years ago... then just ended up buying the tri clamp based elements with the built in 30a plugs for $30 each...
It would work fine but the pins are really small so i would be worried things might heat up and fail over time with movement. I use very similiar connector on my homebrewing panel for the element power with no issues. soldering them took a powerful gun.
