Elders can really be great. Moved into my house on Friday and found out my neighbor is Frank Hamer's son. Just in the few minutes of talking to him he had some amazing stories.

Interesting neighbor. Is he in law enforcement also? Have you offered him a beer yet? Your going to have to post some of his stories..I'd like to hear them.

This Frank Hamer?

In 1934 the retired Capt. Hamer was hired as a Special Investigator for the Texas prison system to track down gangsters Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow. The notorious outlaws had killed more than a dozen law enforcement officers and unarmed citizens in a crime spree spanning several states. The Texas prison system became involved when the Barrow gang broke into a State prison, freed a gang member and killed an officer. After a three-month search, Hamer and Texas and Louisiana law enforcement officers ambushed and killed the criminals near Gibsland, Louisiana.

Yep the Frank Hamer that tracked down Bonnie and Clyde. My neighbors name is Frank Hamer as well (Junior). He is 88 and was a Texas Ranger himself. Had pictures and paintings of his father on the wall. Real nice guy.

Finally in a house again! Been couped up in an apartment without room to brew the past 6 months. Moved the boxes in today and blew the dust off my brewing equipment. Quick drive to Austin tomorrow to pick up some supplies and I'll be back in business.

House is a work in progress. It hasen't been remodeled since it was built in '68. We have been painting non-stop before the new carpet comes. Then we have to remodel the kitchen.

It's really nice though. Apartment living is awful. Leaving to pick up some supplies from AHB now. Tonight should be fun.

Thought of this thread when I was in downtown Tucson last night at Hotel Congress. That's where the cops caught up with John Dillinger once (he busted out of jail later in Indiana). They theme it up 30's style.
