I got a bottle of ½ liter homemade elderflower lemonade from my mom. It has been standing in my room, which can get quite hot during the day, for about a month.
Today I opened it for the first time and got surprised hear a fizz and to find that it had turned to some kind of soda. The taste is great, and when mixed 50/50 with water it is still well carbonated.
I suppose what has happened is that some wild yeast from some of the ingredients or the air has fermented my lovely drink and turned it even better.
But my question is do you think it it safe to drink?
I'm specially worried about methanol, unhealthy bacterias and mould
Not much oxygen has been available in this proces since the bottle was almost full and the cap has been on since the hot lemonade was bottled.
No visible mould can be seen or tasted.
