Here for a SMaSH'ing good time!
So,
I have reached batch 15 of my brewing hobby and I had a new "first."
I rebrewed a recipe I used before.
I was ready. I had my notes all set out in front of me and I was only going to tweak one thing. I realized that when I would enter my water profile into the EZ calculator I always used the full amount of the water as "mash water" because I BIAB. Obviously, since the first time brewing this I learned that I of course should not have been mashing 7.25 gallons of water for 8 lbs of malt.
So here comes the issue/question.
When I plugged in the proper 3 gallons of water as mash water and the rest as sparge water my values all changed- this again, still makes sense because of course you would need less of a chem adjustment for 3 gallons compared to 7.25 gallons.
So, then it dawned on me...well what happens to the PH and the chemical composition of the wort AFTER I add back my distilled water during the BIAB "sparge" if you will.
I also know that you can plug in chemical variables for the sparge water and I can simply add chemicals to that but THEN the questions is- how do I add that amount to the mash water composition?
