This Sunday, I picked 15 ounces of wet hops (Chinook) and made a beer that afternoon with them.

Anyhow, I read somewhere (probably on HBT) that you shouldn't use wet hops for dry hopping. Is this true? Any experiences that you would like to share?

Thanks.

I did it once with an ounce of columbus. It tasted like I used a couple scoops of grass clipping.

When I did a wet hop last year I think I got the best of it in the flame out additions. Since the hops were already flush with water I didn't really get much but grass out of the dry hop either.

I hope you don't mind a related question, if dry hopping is maybe not a good way to use wet hops, what is? I am in the process of harvesting and drying, but I'm planning on brewing this weekend so I will have wet hops available.
One of our local breweries has a harvesting party and makes a wet hop ipa, but I haven't participated yet so I don't know how they use them.

Regardless of how you brew with the hops, wet hops are going to have a lot more oils in them that did not evaporate during the drying process. In particular, you will have Farnesene, which gives a lot of that "grassy" flavor. Dry hopping will increase that significantly since it is after the boiling and there is little opportunity for it to evaporate.
