I used nylon bags and put my leaf hops into them. Should they stay floating on top or they will be going down? RIght now they are floating after 12h.
 
They tend to float. A sanitized shot glass or some marbles in the bag will solve the problem.
 
should I even attempt getting them out of the carboy to add some weight or am I setting myself up for disaster with infection? and just the idea of fishing it out through the small opening isn't really something I'm looking forward to.

Awesome question and answers; first time dry-hopping in about a week!
 
I just dump mine in loose and most of them float....beer still tastes great and you can definatley taste the aroma from the dry hopping. You're fine.
 
thanks for the info. It just kind of sucks to have barely half of the hops leafs actually touching the wort. I guess that's what they call a learning experience ! it's in my brewers notes !
