Dry hopping - Preservative quality?

Hey, I have been brewing a long time, and learned alot from these forums, I cannot find anything about this online.

Just curious if Dry hopping extracts the preservative effect of hops? Or must they be boiled first? May be a wierd question but I have never thought about it before.

Dry hopping does extract the preservative effect of hops. Here's a link to a great article
