I got the Northern brewer brick warmer red kit for Christmas and I have considered dry hopping for some added flavor and aroma- I want to combine the flavor of a wintery amber with the aroma of a hoppier beer.
Has anyone ever dry hopped to a beer that is not an IPA?
Would you recommend something low acid like Golding or willamette hops?

Thanks!

Yes lots of non technical styles are hoppy like Black ipa, imperial esb/ipa-like Oasis. Red is kinda what your going for here but your mainly getting aroma not the stronger bitterness/flavor like an ipa. I dryhopped alot of my ambers. Also there are alot of hoppy ambers out there right now. I think goldings or both would be a good choice to start unless you want some of the stronger american hops.

Well, the Brickwarmer Red is definitely an english style beer. A friend brewed that and accidentally used the full ounce of the bittering hop. It turned out a little extra bitter and basically tastes like an ESB without any significant hop aroma.

If you dry hop your batch, I'd suggest sticking with English type hops. The Goldings or Willamette would probably be good. I'd stay away from the citrusy, piney American hops though.

Also, what makes this an English style beer? Hoppier with little malt?

Well, the NB site refers to it as an American amber ale, but it uses English dark malts, English hops, and English yeast. It is about as English as you can get.
