Dropped rubber seal holding the bubbler in place into my plastic bucket. About to bottle soon.

Sanitized everything before brewing, it's been 2 weeks and beer is ready for bottling.

Could be nothing, could be something. Will spraying star san and letting the brew chillout for a couple of days be a good idea.

Or simply bottle, keep at a low temperature and hope for the best.

It is a house ale meant to be consumed not aged, and ABV is less than 6%.

Suggestions please.

You'll most likely be fine either way. The alcohol is going to protect the beer from infection if you want to leave it in the fermenter longer.

If you do bottle it now you won't want to leave them at cool temperatures because they may not carbonate properly.

if you want to age longer, just put antoher rubber bung and leave the otherone in the beer... infection wise, assuming the exposed part of the rubber bung was not sanitized before falling in, i think you should be ok....

Thanks for your help guys. I've been brewing pretty meticulously so I've avoided something like this for a long time.

Just read ' mistakes weve done brewing and beer is till fine thread' and that made me feel alot better as well.

I think every brewer has done this at least once.

I sprayed my arm down with starsan and reached down and grabbed it.

Turned out I be my best batch of beer ever.

you should be ok. I have got a black berry porter sitting in a carboy right now thats had a #6.5 stopper sitting at the bottem of it for 3.5 weeks. they only thing im worried about is getting it out of the carboy after i rack the beer out. its damn hard to eff up beer RDWHAHB.

I did the same thing on my second batch. I guess everyone just pushes the gromit through the hole every now and then. Since my hands were cleaned I just reached to the bottom of the bucket and stuck it back in. I called it "Entire Arm ale", but nobody ever asked why. Tasted fine!
