Flush mount or surface mount?

Was about to route it flush but got to thinking about cleaning it...and the benefit of it being flush vs surface mounted...

I also thought about making mouldings and maybe using a magnet to make one removable for easy access to the tray. So three sides would be fixed, and one removeable with a embedded magnet.

In the home stretch and want to get this done.

This type of cleat system would make for easy removal. You could also make the same type from wood.

I used those cleats to hang some bedside tables. They are pretty slick.

Although not cost effective, I went with a hanging tray like this

I am referring to a tower on top set up...not a front tap config.

I used Pelican brackets from Lowes. My drip tray simply slides in and out for cleaning. The grid is ceiling light fixture grid.
