Hi all. First time brewer here.

I checked my wort which has been fermenting for 3-4 days now. The airlock activity has subsided for the past 24 hours, so I wanted to check the gravity. I wasn't expecting to find this brown, mudlike foam on the sides of the pail. Is this normal?

The gravity came out right spot on, and I siphoned it over to the carboy.

Thanks

Paul

Why are people racking to secondary after only 3-4 days? Who is teaching them these methods?
