Second time using this spigot will be tonight when I bottle. I cleaned it out well with hot water after it's first use but I was just wondering if it pulls apart for better cleaning. I know others do but I'm afraid to break it. If I break it it'll be a half hour drive to my local shop. Its make by fermenters favorites and I bought it from midwest. Better safe than sorry!

Also what is the hole in the front of it for?

I had a leaky one that I tried to take apart and fix, didn't work. I wouldn't recommend disassembling it.

I leave mine on my bottling bucket, which I clean after bottling and just run sanitizer through, prior to bottling. I rack sanitizer to my bottling bucket, slosh it around a bit and let it drain through the spigot / tubing.

That type of spigot can be taken apart by gently pulling up on the handle while giving the body of the spigot a little twist.

Just tried it, came right out. Now, if only I could fix the cracked body.

I am sorry to be responsible for this happening. I must have been just plain lucky mine have pulled apart so easy.
You may not want anymore advice from me. Reassemble the spigot and use a wrap of tape around the crack for a temporary fix.

No. After bottling I rinse it with hot water. Then I open the valve and throw it into a bucket of Starsan for a few minutes. No problem. No dis-assembly necessary!

These spigots are easily replaced. I just bought some from Northern Brewer to replace a different style spigot that didn't fit my tubing well. Probably can get them elsewhere as well. I bought an extra as a spare. I took appart and reassembled one a couple of times without problems.

Brew on :mug:

Wow mine came apart so easily! I think it loosened because it stumped me when I first got it! Thank you

No, you were exactly right. I tried it on my already-cracked spigot. I guess it did sound like I cracked it cause of what you said.
