does straining diminish flavor?

After preparing my wort, I strained it as directed when I poured it into the primary.
I have a really clear brew but was wondering if it would take away from the character of the beer. I have talked to some people that never do the initial strain. Any thoughts?

Probably helped aerate the wort. Certainly didn't hurt anything as long as you were satitary.

I'm just going to say - from my own experience- if you use pellet hops and don't strain - be prepared with a blowoff tube.

Straining is a good idea, but not necessary. I prefer to get as much of the hops out of the wort as possible.
