Does storing bottles on their side affect them?

I've done about 16 malt extract kits so far. Boy do I love it! I bottle for now, it's great having my beer with me, cuz I'm rarely home.

I store the bottles upright when they are building up carbonation. The gf got me a small cooler I can take bottles with me, only prob is they have to lay on their side for a few hours before they get consumed.

I've always wondered if this affects the beer in any way? I sometimes notice a little spent yeast lying on the side of the bottle instead of the bottom. I don't care about that. I was just wondering if being on its side affects flavor or taste.

Other than a bit of yeast taste from the yeast that gets kicked up, there is nothing wrong with it.

If you cold crash before you bottle, it will cut the amount of yeast in the bottle by at least half. I have access to free ice so I use a rope tub and sleeping bags 1-2 days before I bottle. As a bonus, when I go to siphon, the yeast cake is the consistency of peanut butter so I can transfer every drop.
