Does Pedio normally smell pretty nasty?

I went to pitch a 2009 Pedio in my pLambic I brewed today and man it stunk pretty bad. It had been refrigerated at my LHBS for a few years so he gave it to me gratis but man that ***** was nasty. Luckily I pitched a 3278 fresh pack as well as an old Brett L and some sacch as well.

I've only pitched Pedio once a couple years back and I don't recall that stank. Smelled like a dead hooker.

yum, you can call it the Funky Yeast Infection....


Anyway, most likely what you smelled was dead bacteria, autolysis can cause some pretty gross tastes and smells

I always get a vomit smell from it. And s-hit.
