so i had a serious leak, but now am curious.....i use a bunch of nylon tees for my gas tubing and to find my serious leak (what keg) i disconected all of them....but when i checked the gas tubing to see if that's where the leak was after a day sitting...i got a very small pressure release from my reg....not a big deal, but something that i'm curious if i should fix just because i found out? might be an extra month out of a tank......

i know people talk about EVA here a lot....but i thought my silicone was good enough.....

and on a side note, one of my QD's is 20 years old, how often should a person replace them? (for the serious leak)

i know i'm not fluent at human, but i'll apreciate any replies.... :mug:

I think you can google diffusion rates through various plastics (permeability), but I'm pretty sure that with most any material to get a macroscopic volume through you'd need a large area and/or a very thin membrane and/or very high pressure difference. A small leak at a barb connection seems the more likely culprit to me.

now that you mention it....when had to cut my old vinyl tubing off the barbs, i knicked a couple.....and reused the tees.....

Nylon is one of the best plastics as far as gas permeability goes so I'm pretty certain that's not it...

then as gruel said, probably one of the nicks or a leaky, poppit in one of the QD's......on a plus, think i found my serious leak....either the PRV on a firestone lid i can't find a replacement PRV for, and will have to wait till next month to buy a new lid for....(my oldest keg dates back to 96....i already replaced the o-rings recently, but not the PRV)

i tried vasoline, but if this is it, that wouldn't even get it tight..... :(
