I bottle in a mixture of clear plastic bottles, clear glass bottles, green bottles and brown bottles. I stand them on the floor of the spare bedroom, they are in the light, but get no direct sun. I read in another post on here that someone thinks light on hops causes skunked beer. I don't think my beer is affected at all by light, as a pint from a brown bottle is indistinguishable from a pint from a clear bottle. Any comments friends ?

No Sunlight, and various forms of Flourescent can damage it too. Keep them in a box if possible, or a closet, someplace dark. If that isn't an option keep light to a minimum and sunlight off it at all costs.

Light in general is bad for beer but its mostly UV light that causes skunking. there was a really good interview with a chemist on basic brewing radio about the science of skunking.

Light+hops=Skunked beer....

You can't distinguish it from looking at it, only from tasting it...

Watch the basic brewing video on skunking...

Many thanks all, in the short term I will throw a dark blanket over the bottles. In the longer term I will negotiate with "management" for cupboard space.
