i found this grain at a park near my house. As you can tell from the picture there is lots of it. I mean acres. I pulled some of the seeds out of it and it looked and tasted somewhat like barley or wheat. Can anybody identify this from the visual provided? I will tell you this was found next to a river in Eastern TN if that helps. I am not used to seeing any type of grain like that anywhere around here.

As far as why I'm interested, I would love to brew a 100% local beer (which is hard to do in TN) I have a friend growing hops, a local spring with awesome water and another friend propagating yeast from the smoky mountains. I know it would be a ***** to harvest 10+ pounds of grain like that, but I'd be willing to give it a shot.
