Do you rrehydrate your yeast for EdWort's Apfelwein?

I was reading through his instructions and it said to sprinkle the packet into the carboy.

Gonna make some today.

I did for my Apfelwein but I always rehydrate dry yeast.

I dumped it down the funnel dry, we'll see how it turns out in few weeks.

The time I did rehydrate, I had a huge kraeusen and lost Apfelwein through the airlock.

The time I didn't rehydrate, I had no kraeusen and fermentation was fine.

I used two packs hydrated, but I also through a gas-x pill in there and had no blow off what so ever, even though the fermentation was very vigorous!

No rehydration necessary.
