I started it when I broke my leg in D3ecember as a whole beard sicne I couldnt go back to work and kept it for the wife (she liked it). Now I think I'll keep it for tradition . . .bonus points if anyone can tell me why firemen used to have mustaches (other firemen cant answer)

nope, BTW the proper seal thing is BS. We wear positive presure masks so if there is a leak nothing is gettng in, we would just use air faster cuz it would leak out.

Firemen used to have those giant, walrus looking like, mouth hiding type staches to use as a filter so they didnt get soot, cinders, and embers in their mouth in the days before breathing apparatus

I let my facial hair grow when I am on leave but it grows like sh*t. At least I can see it after a day or two. As for the upper lip, I can leave that thing alone for months and still only have a few hairs.
