If it's full of blow-off you'll want to. If it's just bubbling away I wouldn't bother.

Nah, I just use a bucket of sanitizer for blow-offs. I put it down the drain after the fermentation is complete and attach an airlock.

Edit: yeah what Bradsul says, if it is overflowing then just dump and refill.
