I just checked on a cider that's going for a long aging and noticed something at the liquid line. The carbon was fully sanitized and I kept the airlock full.

Have I lost this one?

If it's been aging for a while I would guess not unless you opened it recently. My guess would be the white spots are yeast floats stuck to the side. Give it some time and if it doesn't grow rapidly and get hairy then you should be fine

98% convinced you’re worrying about nothing. Fermented beverages don’t “die”. They can get unintentionally inoculated but that typically identifies itself pretty obviously. You’re likely fine.

How long are you planning to "age" it?

To let it age, are you going to rack it into a smaller fermenter, to get it off the yeast/trub cake, while also reducing the headspace significantly (to around 1 inch under the bung)?
