I bought the SS funnel featured in this thread
Thanks chippy_23 for the funnel find.
I cut off the end of the funnel, welded a 1.5" TC ferrule to it, and cut a hole in the side of the funnel and welded a (racking arm) 1.5" TC ferrule to it. The first ferrule went great, but the second was a disaster. I persevered and completed the racking arm ferrule well enough to continue the project. I couldn't bring myself to scrap the funnel after spending that much on it. I then cut the funnel and a sixth bbl keg to mate together, then welded them. The funnel is about half the thickness of the keg and the ferrules, making it a bit challenging to weld together. As you can see from the pictures the welds on the inside, are smooth except in a few places where the weld blew-out and I had to fix a hole. After grinding and polishing the bad welds down I made a leak that I had to fix, so I fixed it and decided to stop grinding. The welds are not sanitary, but easily cleanable and do not leak. Finally I plan on welding an 8in TC ferrule to the top of the fermenter and I need to build a stand.
