Has anyone made a hopback using an enema bucket? I see a nice* looking 2.5qt stainless can with barbed spout on ebay, seller is "healthegoods", here's the link to the storefront (if i post a link to the item the link will go bad in a few weeks).

natural health products items in HealthE Goods Natural Health Store store on eBay!

*note: i'm not using the word nice as in "that's a real niiice cow, real purdy.". There are some strange people in this world. And not all of them make beer.

I can see a grant. It's a good idea. A hop back seems harder. Don't you a top of some kind to keep your fluid inside?

I've been thinking about a grant and this is on my short list.

Heck, for $20+shipping it's almost worth the conversation aspect of it! I do need a lid but it doesn't list specs. I'll ask them and will post back, maybe i can get a vollrath cover for it or something.

Commercial scale hop backs I have used have all been open topped with a screen in them. It's simply a matter of regulating flow, just as you would do with a lautering grant.

I got a response back, per healthegoods:

> The enema can has a diameter of 6 inches. Additionally it is 6 1/2 inches tall.

Apparently you use the tubing to transfer the liquid to where it needs to go. You don't fill the can and then shove the whole thing in there. Now they tell me. The handle really hurt. Don't even get me started on the barb.

Oh....Wow...

"don't worry guys. I cleaned it out real good before I hopped your beer... "
