I was wondering if anyone has built a BIAC system? I have all of the parts for a 220V electric kettle but was intrigued with the simplicity of this system. I was planning on using a heat stick instead of punching any new holes. However on the SS website it says: "Our Chronical series fermenters aren't designed for this purpose and we don't recommend trying to boil in them - so NO. If you make major modifications and to this, you will void the warranty. Heads up!"
I didn't see anything that would worry me with this approach, unless the stainless is thin? Has anyone tried this? I don't brew often enough to worry about tying up a fermentor.
thanks

I've seen it done so it's possible. I would suggest going with the heat stick so that you can remove it just before sealing it up for fermentation. I've heard (not experienced) that the heating elements are a bitch to clean after they've been sitting in the chamber during fermentation.

EDIT: The other benefit to this is that you'll sterilize the fermentor at the same time during the boil.
