Anyone install a bottling bucket valve and make a dip tube in one of these?

Just bought this fermentor from a member and wanted make it into a sorta Better Bottle type fermentor. I have 2 ported better bottles and love the fact that you can just hook a hose up to them and rack to a keg.
I have this bottling bucket valve, but wanta add a dip tube to the valve. Only thing is inside the valve, it's smooth. No threads. I see that a 1/2" street 90 mite possibly thread into it, but afraid if I start to thread it in and it fails, the opening will be mangled and useless. Anyone know what will slide in the smooth opening and become a dip tube?
Maybe I should install the valve about 1 1/2" above the bottom and just plan to loose "X" amount of beer, but get no junk in kegs when I rack?
