Hi all,

I am starting looking into buying bulk grains to do my all grain brewing. What are some good base malts that are needed for bulk buys. I was thinking about 2 row, Marris Otter, Pilsner, and Munich. Am I over looking anything? What do you all suggest for a good 4 base malts? Thanks

Yes, that's what I'd choose. I like Rahr for US two-row, and either Golden Promise or Crisp's Maris Otter for English base malt.

I like Weyermann's pilsner malt, and Munich malt.

Another base malt to consider would be be Vienna malt, if you use it much. I use Vienna malt in my APAs and in a few lagers, so I sometimes buy a sack of Vienna malt.

It really depends on what you're planning to brew most. If you're going to make Belgian beers, I'd suggest a sack of Belgian pilsner malt (I like Castle).

I use US two-row and maris otter the most, but that's because I brew a ton of IPAs and APAs, and fewer Belgians and lagers.
