My kit from Northern Brewer said to put my yeast pack in the fridge as soon as the kit arrived but I am not going to be brewing for several weeks and the yeast has been in the fridge for over a week now. Is this bad? Do I need to get new yeast or can it sit in the fridge until a few days before I brew?

I put my yeasts in the lil butter cubby on the fridge door. They'll be fine. Just take it out to warm up when you get out your stuff for brewday. If it's a smack pack, let it warm up to room temp first, then smack it. By the time you're ready to pitch,it should be swollen nicely.
