Dear Internet,

I thinking about making a floating raft that I can set in my mash tun to eliminate the headspace. Does anyone have any design recommendations? I would like to give it a handle and the material must be insulating and buoyant.

I was also considering it for the ability to support a probe thermometer.

Cut a tight fitting disc out of two inch foam insulation. Poke two holes in it and run a rope through. Wrap in foil before use.

I and many others use this. Works great, I don't drop a degree over an hour.

I use a disk of 3/4" foam. It's a bit easier to use than the 2". I use a cable tie for a handle and wrap it in saran wrap on brew day.

Same as the post above, just difference in details.
