You guys are cute thinking you'll be one of the first few dozen people through the gate. I was there at like 5-ish last year, my group and I were about 15th in line and at about 9:55 all of a sudden we were 350th in line because everyone bum rushes the gates.

My DLD advice is always go in with low expectations, that way you can't be disappointed.

The guys I go with never really have a problem getting in pretty early - we have always prioritized getting a picnic table in the past, though. They've always encouraged me to cut to join them but I always feel a little dirty doing that and always end up a couple hundred people back of them. Hell, I'd have had a snifter last year if it wasn't for the weird merging of the to-go line and glassware sales. They sold out a handful of people in front of me.

This is the info I was looking for. Since our bus will probably get us there around 9, it sounds like we'll have a lot of time in line...if any other group A folks are getting there around that time & want to line up with, we can pass bottles around like hobos while we wait for gates to open.
