Dank Nelson

Hey,

I am looking to brew a nzpa and have heard you can get dank from nelson.

The last beer i brewed tasted like fruit juice and I'm hoping to avoid that as I don't need to juice bombs on tap.

I have nelson, riwaka and nz cascade hops in the freezer and would like to avoid buying new hops if possible.

Does anyone know when to add the nelson to get dank from it instead of super fruity?

I just used Nelson in my last beer, and I got no dank at all from it. I am wondering if it was a crop-year difference, because I had an all-Nelson brew recently and it was DANK.

If you want dank for sure, Columbus is pretty dank to me. I hear Comet is a good choice as well.

I get super fruity when I use it. And agree Columbus is a way better bet.

Yeah I get fruity too. Didn't really want to buy more hops and wanted to stick with nz ingredients.
There's a dank no beer that uses Nelson and rakau as the hops.
I figured the dank was from the Nelson but maybe it's the rakau.
Has anyone used both and able to shed some light?
