The last few weeks I have found myself drinking a lot of danky flavored IPAs. I would live to brew one. What hops give that good danky flavor?

I had a lagunitas dark and it's dank. Gives the hop burps. Thats how I describe dank.

Simcoe gives the dank for sure.

Just dry hop a 5 gallon batch with 4 oz and you'll get it for at least a week.

Seems to be columbus for me. I get a lot more straight pine with some citrus from chinook and simcoe. A number of the Oskar Blues beers have it - Deviant Dale's and to a lesser extent Dale's Pale.

I'm going to get a growler fill of this today:

A good, dank flavored IPA is Stone's Ruination. I believe they use Chinook in that one. Delicious.

I'm working on a revised version of my Galaxy/Warrior IPA recipe. I'm switching out the Warrior for some Columbus at 60 min and 20 min. I've got Galaxy additions throughout and I'm adding a little Citra there too. I'm looking for lots of fruity notes with the Galaxy, but I was hoping the Citra and Columbus would really add some dankness and resiny/earthiness.

Admiral hops are very resinous and dank, with a strong citrus quality. Its a super hop

Yeah that looks a good recipe, I would be interested in knowing how it turns out.

Apollo
Columbus
Comet
Chinook
Simcoe
Summit

^ Tough to beat that combo. If brewed right, it will be like putting your nose in a bag of Marijuana.

Citra and Mosaic are more tropical/fruity than anything. Mosaic has some pine, but that's different than dankness.

Centennial is often used in dank IPAs, but it's mainly citrusy/fruity with some pine to it.

I decided I'm not the biggest fan of Columbus- certainly think it's overused.

That being said, my go to for dank flavors has been a Apollo/Comet combo. Though it can get pretty heavy with the grapefruit flavor when used in late additions of 1oz per at 10 min & 5 min in a 5 gallon batch.

I'm still experimenting on the ratios but also looking for other good subs for Columbus. Chinook is really good as well.
