Danby Kegerator - No Power

Hey guys, I am having issues trying to get my Danby kegerator to fire up. When I plug it in, I don't not hear any noises, clicks, etc. and the temperature display does not illuminate. I tried doing some reading before posting and it seems that some have had bad start relays.

I pulled mine out and cracked it open to find a piece that looks like it's pretty burnt up. The part number is QP2-4.7G. Does this sound like it's the culprit? Here are a couple of photos.

I am not a refrigerator repairperson, and this is not qualified advice, but...

I may be wrong, but I would guess that the controls (it sounds like you have some kind of digital control system) are running on a separate circuit than the compressor. I wouldn't expect the control circuit to be on a relay in this case. Assuming that's true, then I would guess that something associated with the power supply running the controls isn't working.

Again, however - my electric experience mostly comes from tinkering with electronics - not with tinkering with refrigerators!

Thanks for your reply. Yes, there is a digital temperature control on my kegerator. I ended up just buying the PTC start relay to see if it fixes the problem. If not, I will investigate further.

I have the same unit.im going to bypass the danby thermostat and use Johnson a419 tempcontroller to kick the compressor on and off. im just not sure how to bypass the stock thermostat yet

So the start relay didn't fix the issue. I decided to investigate further and found a couple of components that look pretty suspect on the control board. The capacitor on the left and the voltage regulator next to it show some signs of leaking. I am hoping that if I replace these two components we will be good to go.

I had a few capacitors go on my Electrolux fridge (3000$ fridge that a repair man told me was garbage and had to be replaced). Replaced the capacitors and she works good as the first day I got it.

The capacitors didn't show much sign of leaking but they had certainly expanded a bit.

Easy fix, good luck, hopefully it fixes your problem!
