Danby infrared image (side view)

For anyone interested, here's a sideview image, taken with a commercial passive IR camera, of the Danby 4.4cu ft fridge I just bought. Other side is a mirror image. IMO, there is just too much "coil" to work around in the side to feel comfortable drilling into (unless you are literally using this camera WHILE drilling).

I see some areas that look safe to drill through.

Regardless, you would still carefully drill the inside skin first, pry out the foam, checking for any tubing and if clear, drill through the outer skin.

I hope the OP took pictures of the top and back, too.
The former could be helpful for tower installations, the latter for running gas lines...

Darn--I never thought of using an Infrared camera to figure out where I might drill.

I just made a keezer and would like to attach a drip tray, but I don't really know where the cooling coils are. I can kind of guess by putting my hand on the side, but it's a rough guess at best.

I think I might have an IR camera I can use.

Safer to drill from inside through plastic or use a knife, then pick away the foam. The coils are supposed to be under the outer metal shell to dissipate the heat, and you should be able to safely drill through the plastic on the inside to find the coils like that and then drill the steel from the inside of the fridge.
