We recently moved and I finally decided to dig out my kegging equipment. I just noticed that during the move the "out" post on my corny keg has a slight dent in it. Based on this photo, can you tell whether or not this is damaged beyond use? I need to buy a new conversion kit so I'm not sure at this point how the connection would fit or not fit based on the damage. Any thoughts appreciated.

Thanks!

You should be fine, but try it out and see what happens! If it leaks, it should be pretty apparent. I've got one with a ding in the post like that, and it works just fine.

I concur with both of the above. I have a post with a worse dent than that I bought...11 years ago?...and it's never been a problem.
As long as it doesn't bulge the O-ring it'll do its job...

Cheers!

The O-rings around the outside seal the QD. The flat surface merely allows the QD poppet to push the pin inside the post and allow the beer or gas to flow through. Whether to not that flat surface is actually really flat is not critical.

You should test to see if the dent has altered the seal capability of the O-rings by shifting the QD to one side. It doesn't look too bad from what I can see.

If you want it fixed.
Take off the o-ring, get a craftsman (has little "grippy" groves in the blade, not necessary, but helps) flathead screwdriver, insert the screwdriver into the slot parallel to the slot, slowly working the thicker "side" of the blade into the slot, wiggle a bit as needed and the slot can be easily fixed. Inspect for burrs and file if needed. Reinstall o-ring.

If it is not causing a problem, don't try to fix whats not broken. But your issue can easily be resolved.

All the spamming you do for chi company makes me never want to buy anything from them. It looks like 75% or more of your posts are nothing but links for the company.

That's because they give a discount if you mention them on a website. They do have some hard to find parts for decent prices. They are my #1 place for old, used parts.

I'd rather pay the extra dollar or two than bother people though...

I've got a liquid out post that's dinged so far down into the o-ring the metal on top is broken. That being said, the o-ring keeps it liquid tight and it still functions perfectly granted, it is a bit "stickier" to get the ball lock on and off.
