Morning All,

This has been a bountiful years for blueberries here in Central New York. After mentioning the fact that I'd like to brew a blueberry stout of some sort, the girlfriend decided to purchase a bucket (yes, a bucket) of blueberries at the farmer's market when I was away this weekend.

Now I've come across a few basic stout recipes, but would like to try something new: crowdsource the ingredients and procedures. I'm looking for suggested base grains, specialty grains (especially oats), mash temps, lactose quantities, yeasts, amount of berries, everything.

I'm set up to brew five gallons of this tough guy in an all-grain setup. All suggestions welcome!

So basically you just want a recipe designed for you to use the blueberries in a stout?

I'd do pale / maris otter (50/50) as your base. Some crystal 120 or 160L if you can find it. A little special B and a handful of pale chocolate malt. Toss in a pound of oats and a pound of lactose. Oats in the mash, of course, and lactose in 10 min before flameout. I'd use fuggle or north down hops. No need to have the hops smack you in the face but they're there to balance out the beer. I'd use Wyeast 1098.

I'd secondary the blueberries I guess.

Was definitely thinking of using a secondary for the blueberries. Since they have skins, I was going to partially smash them up, as well. Assuming they should be sanitized - but I'm wondering what way might not impart an harsh flavors (weak booze?)
