Hey all. This isn't really a cross-post, but it's related to another post: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/forum/threads/3-tc-with-fitting-on-inside-of-clamp.655437/
Here, I'm trying to get some creative thinking. I am purchasing a 1BBL SS BrewTech Unitank. I will be making mead in it (at least, initially). For the first week, I need to recirculate the must to Degas and add O2. I'm asking the best way to do this and identify what fittings I may need.
I was going to pump from the dump valve to the top of the fermenter. I must keep the blow-off cane open, as that's where the CO2 will be expelled (probably with a spunding valve for a little head pressure to keep from bubbling over). There is a 3" TC port in the lid that is available. I considered just cutting and soldering a new fitting, but am afraid I'll degrade the operating PSI pressure of the unitank (too expensive to try that).
I'm emailing SS BrewTech back and forth, but the emails are starting to get slower, and I really need this pretty quickly. Anyone have any thoughts? Drink a beer and get some creative juices flowing!
