I have some German Brewer's Gold and a little Saaz.

The recipe is the Pre Prohibition style cream ale in the recipes on this site.

I was going to do 1oz of the Brewer's Gold at 10min and 21grams of Saaz at knockout. 7grams of nugget at 60. Total of around 22ibu.

The recipe is:

1lb honey malt
3lb flaked maize
5lb 2-row

Wondering if anyone has experience with these hop combinations since the original recipe calls for Hallaterau but I haven't used those hops so I wouldn't know the difference.

What do you think?

That hopping schedule will be good in a cream ale.
You will get a more distinct aroma from Saaz compared with Hallertau. If you have ever had Pilser Urquell, that is all Saaz.

My big question was about the Brewer's Gold. The Saaz was already there at the flame out. The Brewer's Gold addition is swapped for the Hallertau.

Brewer's Gold seems to have about twice (or more) of the Alpha Acids that any of the Hallertaus do, so be careful with your amounts.

My LHBS says BG has notes of "blackcurrant, fruity, & spicy". Hallertau is is more noble, & is described as "Mild with distinct floral, hop and citrus tones".

Not really the same, but I am sure they'd work.

OK, well I have no experience with Brewer's Gold but what I might do is move the flameout addition of Saaz to around 5 min and be done with it.
