I brewed a clone of Lagunitas' Lil Sumpin Sumpin about 4 weeks ago and bottled yesterday. My efficiency of my mash was 60% (OG was 1.065, expected to be 10 points higher) and I used some washed Nottingham to pitch a 1.5L starter. I kept the ambient temp (in a swamp cooler) at 64-66*.

My FG was .998!!! Holy crap! ABV came in at 9%... Sunuva...!! Lol

This ever happen to anyone else? I've heard of FG's that were less than 1.000 but never had it happen to me before. Not complaining but astounded at attenuation of 103%.

I've never gotten below 1.003. Did you make sure that your hydrometer is calibrated? What temp was your sample at when you tested? Did you use a refractometer and not adjust for the alcohol?

Mash temp? If you mashed low for an extended time, you would have more fermentable wort and that could get you FG lower as well.

1) What temp did you mash at?
2) Is it infected?

Mashed at 150* for 75 min and single batch sparge for 15 min at 168*.

Hydrometer is calibrated and I don't have a refractometer. Sample temp was 70*.
