I know with AG you are supposed to leave boil uncovered to all dms out but is it ok to partially cover? Boil is pretty weak on stove top without it with this much liquid.

Just invest in a propane burner. I'd rather put down the $50 or so than be plagued with cooked vegetable beer.

Cover only as much as you absolutely must. But I also second the motion to get a propane burner. OR some other way to get the wort up to a boil. Either that, or don't do full batch boils, so that you can get a good boil going. That will limit you to how much grain you can mash, though.

IMO, a burner (or large enough electric heat stick) is a better choice than partial boils, or covered. If you need to have more than 1/2 the pot covered, you need to get another way to boil your wort.

My buddy has mine right now and I'm 30 minutes into a boil. :-(

Some buddy, taking your burner and leaving you high and dry... F him, go get that mother BACK!!

My gas stove struggled to get more than about 5.5-6 gallons up to a boil. I wouldn't even consider trying to boil that way again. It could be ok for getting mash/sparge water up to temp, but that's about it.

Yeah, I know but he had a shrimp boil and I just got the itch when my ingredients came in tonight. On a bright side I built a rib cage immersion cooler in 15 minutes with 40 bucks tonight!!!!!!!
